Vituperio's Head Baker - Javi

My Story…

My Story...

Vituperio Head Baker Javi
Piano Instructor
ICC Bread Program certification

I’m Javi, as of now, I’m a professional bread baker!

I like to think of myself as many things but today my story is that I’m a professional bread baker, entrepreneur, amateur pianist. I even had the amazing opportunity of being a piano instructor for children in 2019-2020 at the Meridee Winters School of Music in Ardmore, PA. It was my first job in the USA, while I was working on creating Vituperio, and OMG what a blessing it was. Being a piano instructor was something I didn’t look for, or even thought I could do (I do know how to play piano though haha)… but when things are meant to be and the universe aligns, amazing things happen.

Where I'm from

I was born and raised in Santiago, Chile and visit there often as most of my family and friends live down there. It is a beautiful country, at the end of the world (as we usually say), and I do foresee us moving back in some years.

When did I move...

My husband and I moved to Pennsylvania (USA) in 2017 as my in-laws live here. I didn’t like my job,  nor the career path I had taken. That was one of the main reasons I was willing to move. Dreaming about quitting my job, and being forced to find something else sounded like a great plan.

Career Change

Being a bread baker, wasn’t what I grew up thinking…when I graduated I didn’t know what to do, and in 2005 I went to college for business and then obtained a Masters in Finance. This degree enabled me to work in the corporate finance world for several years. The stability was nice, but none of the jobs I had (3 in 7 years) ever resonated with me. My first job, was at a local bank as an analyst for new corporate projects. Then I switched jobs and entered an Iron Ore and Steel Company, as a financial planning analyst. My third job, was in an American energy company, and I had to financially control projects that were under project finance.

Not quite fun, but in hindsight, I learned a lot of things that I get to apply today running Vituperio.

Baking Education

In 2018, I moved to New York where I attended the world renown International Culinary Center. I completed their International Bread Baking Program under the instruction of Chef Johnson. Not only did I gain an incredible amount of knowledge but also the confidence and strength to pursue and open Vituperio! All of this thanks to my fellow students in the group.

Vituperio is Born

In November 2018, I started Vituperio. My biggest fear was not having a network to start making the business seen or heard, but I was very committed to make it work. It has been such a learning experience!

I have even had the change of being featured on different media. From the Huffpost, ABC (Tamron Hall), FOX29, Visita PA, even a Bread TV Show in Chile.

By far, one of the things that I love the most, is connecting with all of you. Through an in-person class, virtual, through social media. It is honestly the fuel that keeps this going.

If you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to contact@vituperio.com

Love,

Javi
